I am an ex-Muslim. For years, I believed Islam was the “religion of peace,” but when I opened the true books of history, I realized how deeply “jihad” and the “killing of kafirs” are embedded in the core teachings of Islam. Today I am telling you about that dark event of 1757, when the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali carried out a massacre of thousands of Hindus in Mathura-Vrindavan right on the occasion of Holi. This was not just a war – it was a brutal example of religious hatred and Islamic supremacy.
February 28, 1757 – The Festival of Holi and the Beginning of Bloodshed
Mathura and Vrindavan were immersed in the colorful festival of Holi. People were playing with colors, absorbed in devotion to Lord Krishna, and pilgrims had gathered in large numbers. But Ahmad Shah Abdali’s eyes fell on this sacred land. He ordered his general Sardar Jahan Khan: “Completely destroy Mathura-Vrindavan, because it is the holy place of the kafirs.” Abdali’s decree was clear: “Put the places of the Hindus to the sword, leave nothing from here to Agra. Five rupees reward for every severed head.”
Jat prince Jawahar Singh fought valiantly with 5,000 warriors. The battle lasted 9 hours, and thousands of Jat heroes attained martyrdom. But the Afghan army prevailed. As soon as they entered Mathura, the massacre began. The colors of Holi mixed with blood. The streets turned red. Abdali’s soldiers slaughtered innocent devotees, priests, women, and children indiscriminately.
The Depths of Cruelty – Insult with Cow Heads
The most disgusting act was that after killing sadhus and bairagis, they hung severed cow heads around their necks and placed cow heads in their mouths to insult them. This was clear proof of Islamic ideology – treating the cow as impure and crushing Hindu beliefs. The waters of the Yamuna flowed red with blood for 7 days, then turned yellowish. There were so many corpses that a foul stench spread everywhere, and it became difficult to recognize the paths.
The same happened in Vrindavan. Piles of bodies lay everywhere, heads were severed and collected for rewards. Women were raped, children were tossed around like polo balls. The wealth of the rich was looted, beautiful women were enslaved and taken away. The city was set on fire, temple idols were smashed with axes.
The Bravery of Naga Sadhus – The Only Resistance
By the time Abdali’s army reached Gokul, the Naga sadhus stopped them. Thousands of naked, trident-wielding sadhus fought fiercely. More than 2,000 sadhus were martyred, but they forced Abdali’s army to retreat. If these brave warriors had not stood firm, Gokul too would have been destroyed. This shows that Hindus were never weak – when the need arose, they picked up the sword.
Criticism of Islam – This Was Jihad, Not War
Friends, this incident was not just Abdali’s cruelty. It is proof of that part of Islam which justifies killing “kafirs,” destroying their temples, and forcing conversion. There are many verses in the Quran that promote jihad and demean non-Muslims. Invaders like Abdali were inspired by exactly this ideology. Even today, this mindset is alive in many places – where Hindus are targeted by being called “kafirs.”
I left Islam because I saw how much violence it spreads in the name of “peace.” In Hinduism there is no jihad, no kafir – only humanity and tolerance. But when Hindus show tolerance, some people mistake it for weakness and attack.

While celebrating Holi today, remember – our ancestors witnessed a festival of blood, yet they never abandoned the celebration. Our culture is alive because our roots are strong. Salute those brave warriors who fought for faith and motherland. And question those who still spread violence in the name of “jihad.”
