For instance, Quran 5:27 and its classical commentaries (including those by Ibn Kathir and Tabari) describe Qabeel (Cain) offering crops and Habeel (Abel) offering a sheep as sacrifices. These accounts assume agriculture and animal husbandry existed from the very beginning.

Agriculture Started Only 10,000 Years Ago

Organized agriculture and animal domestication (sheep ~11,000 years ago, cows ~10,500 years ago, dogs ~15,000 years ago) began only around 10,000 years ago during the Neolithic period. There are no older fossils or cave paintings of domesticated sheep, cows, or dogs. Yet Islamic sources present Adam’s family as already practicing farming and herding.

No Mention of the Ice Age

The last Ice Age ended around 10,000 years ago, dramatically shaping human history and migration. Neither the Quran, Bible, nor any early Islamic text shows any awareness of this massive climatic event.

Adam vs. the Iron Age

Humans began using iron only about 3,500 years ago. Bronze came around 5,500 years ago. Yet the Quran describes Noah’s Ark as being built with “planks and nails” (Quran 54:13), implying advanced carpentry and metalwork far beyond Stone Age capabilities.

Traditional Islamic sources place roughly 1,056 years between Adam and Noah. If Adam lived 300,000 years ago, Noah would have lived in the Stone Age. Humans Shrinking Since Adam?

Sahih Bukhari 3326: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall… People have been decreasing in stature since Adam’s creation.”

Yet all human fossils from 300,000 years ago show the same average height range as modern humans. There is no evidence of gradual shrinking.

The Neanderthal and Homo Erectus Problem

When confronted with Neanderthal fossils (around 500,000 years old) and Homo erectus (up to 1.8 million years old), some Islamic preachers now claim Adam lived even earlier. This forces them to argue that humans remained in the Stone Age for over a million years — an even more absurd position.
