Peon Rehman, along with his 3 wives and his girlfriend, manipulated the government treasury.

Hello friends,

I am an Ex-Muslim. For many years, I have closely observed, studied, and lived Islam. Today, when the news of Peon Ilham-ur-Rehman Shamsi’s scam of over 8 crore rupees in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, has come to light, I feel not just anger but also a deep sadness. Because this case is not merely about one peon’s corruption — it is a living example of that culture and religion which permits a man to keep three wives and also gives him the opportunity to loot the government treasury.

What happened in Pilibhit?

Ilham-ur-Rehman Shamsi, a peon posted in the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) office, got himself attached to the office eight years ago through manipulation. Gradually, he took control of salary bills, salary tokens, and treasury-related work. By creating fake teachers, clerks, and contractors, he transferred government money into the accounts of his relatives and wives. More than 8 crore 15 lakh rupees were embezzled.

The police have now arrested his second wife Ajara Khan, third wife Lubna, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, other relatives, and girlfriends. His first wife was already sent to jail earlier. A total of 53 bank accounts, 98 transactions, and more than five crore rupees have been frozen. The money was spent on expensive flats, land, and a life of luxury.

The Real Face of the “Scriptural” Permission for Polygamy

It is clearly written in the Quran (Surah An-Nisa 4:3) that if you can do justice, you may marry up to four wives. Prophet Muhammad himself married several women. In Muslim society, this is considered a “Sunnah.”

But what is the reality?

– An ordinary peon keeps three wives — in different cities.

– His second wife claims she had no knowledge of the other marriages.

– All the money was transferred to the accounts of these wives, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, and girlfriends.

– Where does a person with a normal government job get so much money from? Through fraud.

This is not merely human weakness, but a systemic flaw. When a religion makes a man the “owner” of multiple women, his greed multiplies many times over. One set of responsibilities, but multiple avenues for indulgence. The result — a raid on the government treasury.

My Views as an Ex-Muslim

Even when I was a Muslim, I used to wonder why polygamy exists. Now that I am out of it, it is crystal clear — it is a tool to maintain a patriarchal system. Even poor young Muslim men dream of “four wives, many children, and Allah will provide sustenance.” But sustenance doesn’t come from Allah — it comes from the taxpayers’ money.

The Pilibhit case is not an isolated incident. In Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, and many other places, similar scams keep surfacing where the names are Muslim and the modus operandi is the same — fake beneficiaries, relatives’ accounts, and an “Ummah” network.

This is no coincidence. When a community promotes “Taqiyya” (deception) and nepotism instead of education, transparency, and accountability, such scams become natural.

Questions of Our Time

– Should polygamy be banned?

– Are talks of morality in madrasas and mosques only meant to fool Hindus?

– Should there be stricter scrutiny on the appointments and promotions of such individuals in government jobs?

So far, 7 people are in jail and more than 5 crore rupees have been frozen, but the full network is still under investigation. I hope the complete truth comes out.

As an Ex-Muslim, I say this clearly — Islam is not reformable. Leaving it is the biggest reform. However, at the national level, strict laws, education, and accountability are essential. Otherwise, thousands like Peon Rehman will continue to loot the government treasury thinking it is “Allah’s provision.”
