Quranic Scientific Blunder: Static Stars Turn into Shooting Stars to Hit Jinns Like Missiles

Quranic Scientific Blunder: Static Stars Turn into Shooting Stars to Hit Jinns Like Missiles

The Quran contains several scientific errors regarding the nature of meteors (shooting stars). According to the Quran:

  1. There are seven heavens, with the lowest (first) heaven being closest to Earth.
  2. The stars, which appear static to us, are described as “burning lamps” placed in the lowest heaven to beautify it.
  3. These same static stars transform into shooting stars (meteors) when angels use them as missiles to strike devils (jinns) who try to eavesdrop on Allah’s commands in the lowest heaven.

However, modern science completely contradicts this Quranic description:

1st Blunder: Meteoroids Are Neither Stars Nor Burning Lamps

  • Static stars (which the Quran calls “burning lamps”) are massive, self-luminous celestial bodies made of gas that emit light through nuclear fusion. They do not turn into shooting stars.
  • Shooting stars (meteors) are small rocky fragments (meteoroids) from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. They only burn upon entering Earth’s atmosphere due to friction.
  • Before entering the atmosphere, meteoroids are dark, cold, and invisible to the naked eye. They do not emit light or adorn the sky.

2nd Blunder: Meteoroids Never Chase or Pursue Devils

Quran 37:6-10: “Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars. And [We have] protected it from every devil rebellious, so they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side. Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment. Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].”

Quran 67:5: “And certainly We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps (static stars) and We have made them (as) missiles for the devils.”

According to the Quran, static stars become flaming missiles that chase and strike devils. But in reality, meteoroids follow straight gravitational paths and never pursue or chase anything. They cannot change direction like guided missiles.

Science can now predict meteor showers years in advance, including exact dates and times when “devils will supposedly steal Allah’s commands.” This means humans can foretell when these supposed attacks on devils will occur.

3rd Blunder: The Quran Implies the First Heaven Is Only 62 Miles Above Earth

Meteors ignite only when they enter Earth’s atmosphere, which begins approximately 62 miles (100 km) above the surface. This suggests the Quran places the first heaven within this 62-mile range. Yet the same Quran claims all stars are located under the first heaven to beautify it.

4th Blunder: Contradiction Regarding the Distance of the First Heaven

On one hand, the first heaven is close enough for meteors to strike devils. On the other hand, the Quran states that stars (which are billions of light-years away) are placed under the first heaven. This creates an irreconcilable contradiction.

5th Blunder: Devils Form a Ladder by Standing on Each Other’s Shoulders

Sahih Bukhari 4800: The Prophet (ﷺ) described how devils form a ladder by standing on each other’s shoulders to reach the first heaven, steal Allah’s commands, and pass them down the chain.

This is scientifically absurd. The first heaven, according to the Quran, is billions of light-years away, yet devils supposedly reach it by climbing on each other’s shoulders.

6th Blunder: Shooting Stars Only Started After Muhammad’s Prophethood

Quran 72:8-9: “The jinns said: We sought to touch the heaven but we found it filled with guards severe and burning flames. And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.”

According to this, shooting stars only began striking devils after Muhammad’s prophethood. Before that, devils could freely eavesdrop. This claim has no historical or scientific basis. Meteor activity has been constant throughout history.

7th Blunder: Iblis and His Devils Were Unaware of Muhammad and the Muslims for Many Years

Sahih Muslim 449 and other narrations claim that devils and Iblis did not know about Muhammad’s prophethood or the existence of Muslims for years. They only discovered it when they heard the Quran.

This is highly implausible. If devils were constantly tempting people, how could they remain unaware of the biggest religious movement of their time for years?

8th Blunder: The False Challenge That Humans and Jinns Cannot Cross the Regions of the Heavens and Earth

Quran 55:33: “O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah].”

This challenge is false. Humans have already gone beyond Earth’s atmosphere into space and landed on the Moon without any “flame of fire” stopping them.

Only a Single Scientific Mistake Is Enough to Prove Islam Is Man-Made

Even one clear scientific error in the Quran is sufficient to disprove the claim that it is the perfect word of an All-Knowing God. The Quran presents a 7th-century Arabian Flat Earth cosmology with static stars turning into flaming missiles to hit eavesdropping devils — a concept that matches ancient myths but contradicts every established fact of modern astronomy and physics.
