In Medina, Muhammad and his companions had no regular source of income. Their only livelihood was raiding non-Muslims and seizing war booty (maal-e-ghaneemat). They would loot everything – money, goods, women, even small children – and turn them into lifelong slaves. And thanks to Islam’s evil rule of “slavery by birth”, the next generations of those slaves were also born as slaves.

But Muhammad didn’t just want a share – he wanted the lion’s share for himself and his relatives. To achieve this, he repeatedly used “revelations” for personal gain.

Read the evidence below and decide for yourself: were these really revelations from Allah… or verses Muhammad cooked up to fill his own pockets?

1. Surah Al-Anfal: Muhammad Tried to Take the Entire War Booty of Badr for Himself

Before the Battle of Badr (2 AH), war booty was normally divided equally among the fighters. After Badr, a huge amount of booty was captured. This time Muhammad wanted it all. He declared a new “revelation”:

Quran 8:1 “They ask you about the war booty. Say: The war booty belongs to Allah and His Messenger.”

In other words: nothing for the companions.

To make sure they didn’t protest, he told them their fighting didn’t matter – 1,000 angels did all the work:

Quran 8:9 “(Remember) when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you: Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand angels, following one another.”

And in Quran 8:12, Allah even says He personally threw terror into the hearts of the disbelievers.

So the math according to Muhammad: 313 Muslims + 1,000 angels + Allah Himself casting terror …yet 14 Muslims still got killed!

Sahih Muslim 1763 – A companion claimed he saw an angel whipping a disbeliever until his face turned green from poison. Sahih Bukhari 3995 – Gabriel appeared on horseback, fully armed.

Still 14 Muslims died? If 1,000 angels + Allah’s terror couldn’t protect them, what kind of “help” was this?

Maulana Maududi himself admits in his commentary on Surah Al-Anfal (footnote 11): “Allah is reminding Muslims: you think the victory was because of your swords? No – it was Allah’s bonus. You saw how little your effort mattered compared to Allah sending 1,000 angels.”

Translation: “Shut up and hand over the loot.”

2. Al-Khums: When the Full Takeover Failed, Muhammad Settled for 20%

At Badr he had already promised shares to fighters (Sunan Abu Dawud 2738): “Whoever kills a disbeliever gets this much, whoever captures one gets that much.”

So he couldn’t grab everything. Plan B → Khums (one-fifth):

Quran 8:41 “Know that whatever booty you take, one-fifth is for Allah, the Messenger, his relatives, orphans, the poor and the traveller.”

In reality the entire 1/5 went to Muhammad and his family:

• “Allah and Messenger’s share” → Muhammad
• “Relatives’ share” → his clan
• “Orphans/poor” → distributed by Muhammad (i.e. still under his control)

From the Khaybar booty alone he got at least 7 slaves and traded them for one beautiful woman – Safiyyah (Sunan Abu Dawud 2997, Sahih Muslim 1365e).

Even Ali used the “Khums excuse” to rape a minor captive girl the same night she was enslaved (Musnad Ahmad 22967, graded Sahih by Arna’ut).

3. Al-Fay: Finally, Muhammad Got the Whole Booty in His Pocket

When the Jewish tribe Banu Nadir surrendered without a fight and left Medina, the companions again expected their share. Muhammad had a new “revelation” ready:

Quran 59:6-7 “Whatever Allah has turned over to His Messenger from the people of the villages belongs to Allah and the Messenger, his relatives, orphans, the poor and the traveller – so that wealth does not remain only among your rich.”

Result: 100 % of the booty went to Muhammad and his family. Companions got nothing, even though they had marched out armed.

Apologists’ Excuses – and the Truth

Excuse: “Al-Fay wasn’t given to fighters because Allah didn’t want wealth concentrated among the rich.” Answer:

• Khums was also given to Muhammad’s already-rich relatives.
• Muhammad gifted his daughter Fatima the garden of Fadak worth 50,000 dirhams.
• Ali had 9 wives, dozens of slave-girls, 17 children – all from Khums & Fay. “Non-concentration of wealth”? Pure propaganda.

Bonus Income: Ruqyah (Quranic “Spells”)

Sahih Bukhari 2276 Companions performed ruqyah on a tribal chief bitten by a snake and demanded a flock of sheep as payment. When they brought the sheep to Muhammad, he smiled and said: “You did right. Divide it – and give me my share too.”

Same creepy smile he gave when ordering a grown woman to breastfeed an adult man (Sahih Muslim 1453a).

Conclusion

• Badr → tried to take 100 % (Quran 8:1)
• Failed → settled for 20 % (Quran 8:41)
• Banu Nadir → finally took 100 % (Quran 59:6-7)

This is not divine revelation. This is one man repeatedly “revealing” verses to legally steal the largest possible share of war loot for himself and his family.

When your “Allah” needs three different verses in ten years to slowly grab more and more money – you’re not looking at God. You’re looking at human greed dressed up as religion.
