Muhammad believed his Mi’raj (ascension) story would never be questioned because there were no witnesses. But lies have a way of exposing themselves through contradictions – and the Mi’raj story has been caught twice:
- Almost the exact same ascension tale already existed in Zoroastrian scriptures centuries before Islam.
- Modern science proved that wings are useless in space – yet Muhammad claimed he flew on a winged creature called Buraq, and the Quran says angels fly with 2, 3 or 4 wings (35:1).
And then came the biggest blunder of all: Muhammad declared that the sweet water of the Nile and Euphrates rivers flows from the Sidrat al-Muntaha (the Lote Tree) in Paradise.
Sahih Bukhari 3207 The Prophet said: “…Then I was shown Sidrat-ul-Muntaha… Four rivers originated at its root – two hidden, two visible. I asked Gabriel. He said: The two hidden rivers are in Paradise, and the visible ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.”
Sahih Muslim 2839 Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger as saying: “Saihan (Oxus), Jaihan (Syr Darya), Euphrates and Nile are all among the rivers of Paradise.”
Today These Hadiths Are a Nightmare for Apologists
Because science has already identified the real sources:
- The Nile’s fresh water comes from rainfall and springs in the highlands of East Africa (Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia).
- The Euphrates rises in the mountains of Turkey.
In Muhammad’s time, nobody knew this. So it was easy to make up stories. But science has exposed the lie.
Where Did He Steal This Story From?
Exactly the same tale was already in the Bible – only slightly different:
Genesis 2:10-14 “A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters… The third river is the Tigris… And the fourth river is the Euphrates.”
The difference:
- In the Bible, the Garden of Eden was on Earth, not in the heavens.
- Muhammad mistakenly placed Adam, Eve and the Forbidden Tree in a heavenly paradise. Now the problem: How does water from a tree in the sky reach earthly rivers?
Muhammad copied Bible stories but wasn’t educated enough to get the details right – so he ended up with huge human errors.
Even the Garden of Eden Was Copied
According to Britannica: The Garden of Eden story itself was borrowed from ancient pagan myths where heaven and earth were once joined, and gods and humans walked together freely.
Conclusion
- Claim that Nile & Euphrates flow from Paradise → Lie
- Exposed by science
- Story stolen from the Bible, but mangled in the process
- The Bible itself plagiarized older pagan legends
This was not “revelation”. This was an illiterate man mixing old tales together – and leaving behind a trail of massive mistakes.
