Many years ago, I left Islam after deeply reading and understanding the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic history. Today, when I read the reports of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, my blood runs cold. The 300-page report “Silenced No More” by the Israeli NGO “The Civil Commission” has revealed horrors that are shameful for humanity.

What happened that day?

On October 7, 2023, Hamas and its allied terrorists attacked Israel. More than 1,200 innocent people were killed. Women, children, the elderly, and young people — no one was spared. They carried out a massacre by entering music festivals, kibbutzim (villages), and homes. But the most horrific part was the sexual violence. The report states that it was systematic and carried out with celebration.

Witnesses described:
– Women were forcibly stripped and raped.
– Knives were stabbed into them during the rapes.
– A woman was raped even after her murder, with her corpse.
– Family members were forced to have sexual relations with each other in front of one another — even siblings.
– Knives, weapons, and other objects were inserted into private parts.
– Bodies were stripped, mutilated, burned, and humiliated.
– Photos and videos of these acts were sent to the victims’ families to inflict even more pain.

All of this was recorded on GoPro cameras and mobile phones and spread on social media. The terrorists were laughing and joking while committing these heinous acts. They considered it a “celebration.”

What was happening with the hostages?

The 251 people abducted and taken to Gaza were subjected to daily sexual exploitation. Women and girls were kept as sex slaves. Men were also sexually tortured. Even minor children were not spared. Two minor siblings from one family were forced to have sexual relations with each other.

The report mentions systematic sexual violence at 13 different locations. This was not a crime committed in the heat of the moment — it was planned “sexual terrorism.”

As an ex-Muslim, this is my take:

I have left Islam, so I can speak openly. In the ideology of Islamic jihad, non-Muslims (especially Jews) are not considered human beings but enemies. The rules regarding jihad, ghanima (booty/loot), and the treatment of captives given in the Quran and Hadith are still followed by many Islamic terrorist groups today. Hamas’s charter and their statements clearly show that they consider killing Jews a religious duty.

Those who say “this is just resistance” are turning their faces away from the truth. The rape of innocent women and children and the desecration of corpses cannot be called “resistance.” This is barbarism.

I have personally read about the status of women in Islam, sex slavery, jihad, and the hatred toward kafirs (infidels). Until this ideology is challenged, such atrocities will not stop.

What should the world do?

– Stop hiding the truth.
– Support Israel in completely eliminating terrorist organizations like Hamas.
– Expose those who justify sexual violence by calling it “resistance.”

I stand with all the victims and their families. Those who are still “silent” or talking about “both sides” are complicit in these cruel atrocities.
