AIMIM Leader Shaukat Ali’s Statement: Is Population an Islamic Jihad or an Excuse for Development?

Hello friends, I am an Ex-Muslim who was inside Islam for years and now criticizes it. By reading the Quran, Hadiths, and history, I have understood how some leaders misuse religious texts to mislead the community. Today, I will talk about the recent statement by Shaukat Ali, the Uttar Pradesh president of AIMIM, where he appealed to Muslims to have “we two, our two dozen” children. This statement is not only irresponsible but also a distorted form of Islamic teachings. Let’s examine it in the context of the Quran and Hadiths.

Appeal to Increase Population: Allah’s Gift or Man-Made Crisis?

Shaukat Ali said that children are a gift from Allah, so keep accepting as many as you get. He urged Muslims to have as many children as possible so that the country becomes strong. By giving the example of China, he claims that more population brings strength. But as an Ex-Muslim, I ask – is this the true teaching of Islam? In the Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah (2:223) refers to wives as “fields,” but it doesn’t mean uncontrolled population growth. In the Hadith (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 135), Prophet Muhammad said that children are a blessing from Allah, but it doesn’t mean you should line up children one after another.

Islam also permits family planning, such as the method of withdrawing the penis after sex to prevent conception (coitus interruptus), which is described in the Hadiths (Sahih Muslim, Book 8, Number 3371). But extremist leaders like Shaukat Ali ignore this and turn population into a weapon of “jihad.” They themselves say that they have 8 children and their brother has 16. Do they take responsibility for raising them? In India, where there is poverty, unemployment, and scarcity of resources, this appeal pushes the community towards backwardness. In the Quran, Surah Al-A’raf (7:31) prohibits extravagance and excess – isn’t producing children uncontrollably the same thing?

Targeting Hindus: Victim Card or Islamic Divisiveness?

Ali targeted Hindus, saying that they are troubled by the growing Muslim population. He accused women from Hindu organizations of mistreating Muslims, talking about closing madrasas, pulling burqas, plucking beards, lynching over meat, and insecurity during travels. This is a classic example of “taqiyya” (deception), which is used in Islamic teachings in minority situations. In the Quran, Surah Al-Imran (3:28) prohibits friendship with non-Muslims if they are enemies, but here, by playing the victim, division is being spread.

Why are madrasas being closed? Because many madrasas teach extremism, not modern education. I have personally seen madrasas where Quran memorization is forced, but there is no place for science and logic. The Hadith (Sunan Abu Dawood, Number 3644) emphasizes education, but these leaders use it for politics. Incidents like lynching are wrong, but aren’t such incidents happening from the Muslim side as well, and will the Muslim community reform itself? In the Quran, Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:32) prohibits killing, but leaders use the excuse of BJP/RSS conspiracies to keep the community isolated. This is a misuse of Islam’s concept of “ummah” (community), which promotes division.

Conclusion: These Muslim Leaders Incite People in the Name of Islam

Shaukat Ali’s statements have sparked a debate on social media, and it is necessary. These statements mislead the Muslim community, threaten the unity of the country, and such Muslim leaders are once again sowing the seeds of division. As an Ex-Muslim, I know that this has been the history of Muslim leaders, which is why partition happened, millions of people were killed, and people became homeless.
