Hazaribagh: Religious frenzy during Maa Saraswati’s worship; stone-pelting in Kashmir style by extremists… Hindu phobia visible on Hindu festivals

Brother, I am an ex-Muslim. Those who know me know why I left Islam – because I saw how much rigidity and intolerance there is in its book and its teachings. Today, when I hear about this Hazaribagh incident, my old pain resurfaces again. January 24, 2026, Beltu village, Keredari block – the procession for the immersion of Maa Saraswati’s idol. Children, girls, mothers, everyone was joyfully bidding farewell to the “Goddess of Knowledge.” Bhajans were playing on the DJ, slogans were being raised, sweets were being distributed. This was the innocence of Hindu culture, something I never knew, but now I understand how beautiful it is.

And then… stones! A Muslim mob attacked, saying the “DJ song was provocative.” Stones on the idol, stones on the procession, stones even on the police. Many were injured, little girls were crying, mothers turned themselves into shields to protect the idol. The police had to use tear gas. The entire area turned into a police camp. This was not some “clash between two communities” – this was the naked face of Islamic intolerance.

I have read the Quran, I have read the Hadiths. There, idol worship is called “shirk” – the greatest sin. Music and singing are “haram,” such worship is “haram.” So when a Hindu is performing his puja, it becomes a “provocation.” And the answer to provocation? Violence! Stone-pelting! This is the same mentality that massacres and drives out Hindus in Kashmir, that destroyed the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan, that burns temples in Pakistan. And the same thing is happening in India – Saraswati Puja, Ram Navami, Ganeshotsav – every Hindu festival is targeted.

I am an ex-Muslim, so I cannot stay silent. I know that most Muslims are good people, but this extremist mindset, this “our way is the only right way” mentality, this sickness of not tolerating the happiness of non-Muslims – it comes straight from the core teachings of Islam. Read Surah 9:29 in the Quran – fight the non-Muslims until they pay jizya or accept subjugation. Surah 9:5 – kill the polytheists wherever you find them. These verses are still recited in mosques and taught in madrasas today. The result? Attacks like this.

My heart is crying for those Hindu brothers and sisters who were simply worshipping their Goddess and got pelted with stones. Some little girl’s head must have split open, some mother must be weeping. And the media? “Both sides,” “communal tension.” If Hindus had pelted stones during Eid, there would have been an outcry of “Hindu terrorism.” But here? Silence, or lectures on “maintain peace.”

I want to tell Hindus – don’t be afraid. Protect your culture. Take the help of the law, but don’t bow down. And to my Muslim brothers – if you truly want peace, abandon this extremist thinking. Idol worship may be wrong for you, but it is someone’s faith. What will you prove by throwing stones? Only that tolerance has completely vanished from Islam.

May Maa Saraswati grant wisdom to everyone – especially to those who respond with violence. Jai Maa Saraswati! And such fanaticism should never be tolerated.
